Joelle Banford Competition Director
Joelle has been has trained in jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, tumbling, and tap. Joelle was a three year member and captain of her high school drill team. She has been teaching and choreographing since 1999. During 2001-2005 she traveled for USA (United Spirit Association), teaching dance teams and leadership camps throughout the western United States. She has taught at many schools and studios and is currently the competition director at Synergy Dance Academy.
In college, Joelle was awarded full dance scholarships for 2001-2005. She is passionate about training dancers to learn about their amazing bodies. Dance is the emphasis for her bachelor's degree earned from Utah Valley University in 2014. She continues to educate herself and considers herself a lifelong student. Joelle has a deep appreciation for learning and educating on proper functions of the physical body, flexibility techniques, and kinesiology for dancers; as well as strength and conditioning- specifically for dancers.
She has had the opportunity to assist Monica Campbell in teaching, Diavolo Dance Company classes to University students. Joelle has been a part of creating a â€œconditioning for dancers'" curriculum that is taught to dancers of all genres. Joelle has been a key choreographer to the State and National Drill Team Champions, the Copper Hills Azurettes. Her soloists have won many titles including, Miss Drill Utah. Her choreography for solo, duo, trio, team, and companies have won numerous high points, overall awards, and choreography awards, including over-all high point at the national level. She is grateful for the success she has had with her choreography as it has created many incredible opportunities continuing to have this amazing art form in her life.
